Cinco de Mayo (fifth of May) celebrates the Mexican army’s victory in 1862 over France at the Battle of Puebla in the Franco-Mexican War.
The Chicago area has several restaurants celebrating the victory with special tastings and dishes. Here are just a couple of places to consider if in the area.
Moe’s Cantina River North, (pictured above) 155 W. Kinzie St. (312-245-2000) Chicago, will be decorated for the holiday and open for lunch (normal hours are 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.). It’s specials will include 3-taco platter for $15 from noon to 3 p.m. and a 3 taco dinner platter later (after lunch) for $18. Moe’s cantina in Wriglyville, 3518 N. Clark St. will have pre-game specials that include Margaritas $10, Pina Azul $10 and Nachos $5.
Time Out Market, 916 W. Fulton Market, Chicago’s largest food hall, celebrates May 5 with a “Build Your Own Margarita bar, entertainment and Mexican street fare by chef Rodolfo Cuadros at Lil Armaru.
